Choose How to Use Your Energy

…stop your negative thinking and reprogram your thoughts. Disrupt your life as it is. Change its pattern. Rather than saying, ‘I’m sad that I am never going to be able to do this,’ end that thought process. Use the word ‘cancel’ or ‘delete’ every time you think that way, and start a new way of thinking.” —Page 197 of “Expect the Unexpected: Bringing Peace, Healing, and Hope from the Other Side”
The presidential election brought out, and continues to bring out, a wide array of emotions. For those who are happy with the result, congratulations! For those in mourning, now is the time to come together with others, find something for which you can be grateful, and release that inner turmoil in a positive way.
Your life is molded primarily by your own choices. Use your connection with God or Spirit during emotionally difficult times to find the peace and beauty that exist within you. Yes, you need and deserve time to grieve, but eventually you must rise up and find a way to move forward. If you work at it, your mindset really can change, no matter how much the emotions you feel now may be telling you otherwise. Here are four suggestions to help you:
1.) Hold a place for love in your heart and mind – for everybody! When you keep an open and loving heart and mind, you are better able to see both sides of an issue or story. Everyone has a reason for believing what they believe, one you may not know or understand, just as you have a reason for believing what you believe. By opening space inside of you for love to flow, you will be able to release the judgments and negative emotions that can prevent you from reaching your highest good.
2.) You have the ability to create your destiny. In other words, you have free will. If you use that to lift the energy of this world, you and all those in sync with you can fill the world with hope and love. These may be turbulent times for you, but you have the ability to shift your perception from negative to positive. When you do, you will likely see that life isn’t and won’t be as bad as you think. You may have heard the old proverb “He who has hope has everything.” I firmly believe that. Have hope, and a lot of positive change can transpire.
3.) Having gratitude can be all that you need to escape feelings of despair and negativity. Gratitude can connect you to God or Spirit, giving you a feeling of support no matter what difficulties you may face. Spark that gratitude first thing in morning. Give thanks for everyone and everything that is good in your life. It will alleviate some of the pain in your world and shift your perception of people and the world around you as you progress through the day.
4.) Fear can grow like wildfire when you give it attention. The simple solution to conquering it is to surrender to it. Do not fuel fear by giving it your energy. Surrender to your fear and have hope that everything will work out for the best. A lot of people will refuse to acknowledge fear – they will avoid it or try to block it. But when they do that, fear will gain intensity and ultimately consume them. Face fear head on. Let it flow through you. Remember that we are channels of energy. When something gets lodged in a channel, it can wreak havoc, like water trying to pass through a clogged drain. When you let your fear flow through you, you are also letting the light of God flow through you, which will bring you the peace, love, and confidence you need to move forward.
Energy is not positive or negative. It is neutral. How you use that energy will determine how you feel, how you think, how you behave, and how you affect the lives of others. Choose to use your energy in a positive way and good things will come to you and those around you.
